This is a fantastic Museum Quality hard stone cameo depicting the figure of Cupid, within a rose cut diamond set knife edge frame and surmounted by a laurel leaf swag set throughout with seed pearls and rose cut diamonds, suspended from a rose cut diamond set bail. It fastens with a pin and c-hook, the bail is attached by a scroll and can be removed. The background is black and the carving white for a very pretty contrast. Cupid is here shown while he's shooting an arrow on his bow, the legend says that when the arrow of Cupid hits the heart of someone he or she will fall in love. This cameo if the perfect symbol of love. Cupid is here depicted as a winged plump baby beautifully carved. The pictures really don't give justice to this cameo as the white of the carving reflects the light and perhaps the carving can seem not crisp but it is not so, the carving is perfect. The frame in another work of art and the cameo can be used as pendant or as a brooch removing the bail. A real museum quality cameo for all the collectors.
