Museum quality cameo set consisting in a brooch and a pair of earrings, both carved with Bacchantes faces. Bacchantes were followers of Bacchus the God of wine (Dionysus is the Greek name). Bunches of grapes and wine leaves in her hair.  Look how the carver used the coral to evidence her face, the wine leaves and the grapes. This subject seems to jump out from the coral, everything is so realistic, the leaves and the bunch of grapes appear just to be put like a cascade on her hair, this cameo is just like a sculpture.  This is one of most beautiful Bacchante I have ever seen, the pictures speak by themselves. Carving is magnificent, simply amazing. This set is a real sculpture in the coral. Look at the face of the Bacchante, she's simply wonderful. Each details is masterly carved. Even the two small bacchantes on the earrings are wonderfully carved. This set is a real work of art. The gold mounting is another work of art and of course those coral wonderful cameos deserved something of real stunning to complete their beauty. Very detailed cameos, carved by an artist. Rarest cameo set and subjects, very desirable collectors' piece. Please note, the real color of this set is shown in the second picture. It is not orange color, but a peach -salmon color.
