This is a Museum Quality Victorian carved on ivory note case, the front finely carved with cherub musicians, birds, & flowers, amongst rococo scrolls, an ivory leaf to the interior, with French silver hinged, propelling pencil, & clasp marked “Tiffany & Co., Paris”. This is a very rare find, the silver pencil still works and there is something written inside and it reads "I love you", thinking that someone wrote that sentence about 130/140 years ago is amazing and I did not delete it when I cleaned the case. The carving is fabulous and three-dimensional, the two cherubs are chubby and tender, one is playing a trumpet and the other one a flute. Above them a lot of flowers wonderfully carved and below them a riot of curved leaves superbly carved, on one of those leaves you can see the seated cherub playing flute and his minuscule foot resting on another leaf. Simply amazing. There are two tender birds that are kissing. The ivory surface is delicately carved with flowers and leaves. The edges of the case are waved and everything seems like an embroidery. Inside the case there is a silver spring in a shape of a fleur-de-lys which was used to hold firmly perhaps small paper sheets or anything else. This case is something of wonderful and rare, another great treasure for all the cameos collector. To not to miss.
